Mary Shelley's classic novel has been made into movies, TV mini-series, cartoons and TV shows. In the genres of horror, scifi-fi, drama and comedy. The 2004 mini-series take on this classic tale is on DVD thanks to the fine folks at Mill Creek Entertainment.

This 2 part mini-series event follows a scientist Victor Frankenstein (Alec Newman) who embarks on a mission to create life from corpses and various body parts. This mini-series boasts of a great cast featuring Donald Sutherland, William Hurt, Luke Goss and many other great actors.

The story is engaging! It is good to note that this adaption of the story is more of a morality play than a horror story! There is no real scares in this film. Even Frankenstein's creature is not frightening to look at. The acting is believable! The cinematography is stunning! This mini-series runs three hours in length, but it goes fast that you hardly realize it!


This is the most true adaption of Mary Shelly's novel ever produced. No wonder it was nominated for ASC award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Movies of the Week/Mini-Series/Pilot. An Artios award for Best Mini Series Casting. And won the 2005 Prime Time Emmy Award for Outstanding Makeup for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special.

The mini-series on this DVD has been beautifully transferred. The audio and video quality is excellent. The DVD menu is easy to access and it is one awesome DVD to add to your collection. This mini-series is also available on Blu-ray!
