Anaconda (1997) {Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed By Jason S. Lockard

There is something unsettling to many people about snakes! Is it that they can move so fast without legs? It is that they can climb trees without hands? Who knows, but one thing is for sure they are a mysterious creature!

Now its bad enough if they are small, but when they are monstrously big, we have a problem! Mill Creek Entertainment has decided to tap into many humans fears by releasing Jenifer Lopez and Ice Cube in the creature feature Anaconda in HD on Blu-ray!

The film follows a documentary crew traveling through the Amazon jungle. They pick up a stranded man, that sounds fine doesn’t it? Yeah until they find out that the stranger’s hobby is capturing the giant Anacondas, and plans to continue by using their boat, by any means necessary.

The story is not intended to be a horrifying film it’s a "B movie". The special effects are not amazing, they are cheesy. Which some people love that cheesy goodness. So if you just sit back and enjoy the craziness you’ll find yourself really enjoying the fun! Jenifer Lopez, Ice Cube and Jon Voight are really good in this film. It's still alot of fun to watch even over 20 years later!

It was considered on of "The 100 Most Enjoyable Bad Movies Ever Made", by John Wilson on The Official Razzie Movie Guide. Also Roger Ebert called this film, "A slick, scary funny creature feature, beautifully photographed and splendidly acted in high adventure style"

Now for the blu-ray release! The film is presented in high definition widescreen format. It looks and sounds amazing. But sadly there are no bonus features at all!  That was a little bit of a downer. But to have a HD copy of the film for minimal price! I'll take it!

So if you love your horror films cheesy scary this creature feature is the one for you! Head over to www.MillCreekEnt.com and find out how you can get your copy today!
