The Price of Fame (2017) {DVD Review}

Reviewed By Jason S. Lockard

I grew up as a wrestling fan! Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Andre the Giant men like these were larger than life. You wanted to just live there life for a day. One of those men was Ted Dibiase, known as The Million Dollar Man! He was a man you just loved to hate! Ted's famous line was "Everybody has a price!" And Yes even Fame has a price. The new documentary "The Price of Fame" shows the price took on Ted himself and his family!

Ted Dibiase was the son of a wrestler "Iron" Mike Dibiase who sadly died in the ring! This journey takes him from his early years remembering his father, into the early years of his career in mid-south and finally making it to the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE). In the 1980's the wrestling culture was workout, wrestle, party, sleep, repeat. This lifestyle plays havoc on the wrestler and their families. It nearly destroy Ted's family, if it would have been for the inner power of God  it would have all fell apart.

The documentary has candid interviews with wrestling legends such as Roddy Piper, Shawn Michaels, Jake Roberts, Lex Luger, Jim Duggan, Terry Funk, Harley Race, Mick Foley, Mean Gene Oakerlund and the great Jim Ross and many more. There is classic clips of Ted Dibiase in the ring and his promos in the World Wrestling Federation! This was an amazing plus! The film also shows a confrontation between Ted Sr. and his sons Ted Jr. and Brett! Ted's wife speaks candidly about her emotion to Ted's cheating! The emotion is raw and real, we see the pain the comes from living a wild life style!

This documentary is not going to be for everyone, of course some will find it a bit preachy! But I found it insightful and enjoyable! The documentary is presented in great quality audio and video! The Bonus features on this DVD are amazing! They include;

  • A Sit down interview Jim Ross talks with Ted Dibiase.
  • A 1 on 1 conversation with Ted Dibiase and Shawn Michaels.
  • Bonus interview clips with Wrestling legends, Roddy Piper, George Steele, Jake Roberts and more.
  • The Making of The Price of Fame.
  • More promos including a reunion promo with Money Inc. (This made me 'pop').

So if your a fan of Ted Dibiase, wrestling or documentaries, check this DVD out! The feature is awesome, but the bonus feature are an amazing plus! I highly recommend you check out www.ThePriceofFame.com or pick up a copy of this DVD on Amazon today!
