Reviewed By Jason S. Lockard

To many people Hedy Lemarr was just a beautiful Hollywood starlet! But nothing could be farther., from the truth! There is so much more to the life of Hedy Lemarr! That is where this new documentary film is such a necessary thing for all movie fans to discover! Now thanks to Zeitgeist Films and Kino Lober we can own it on high definition Blu-ray!

Hedy Lemarr was born Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler in Vienna on November 9, 1913. In 1933 she married Fritz Mandl a prominent fascist and weapons manufacturer for the Nazis. When the marriage became unbearable she got out (in an amazing way) and moved to Hollywood it wasn't long till she was starring in films. But she was considered nothing more than eye candy for the films. She once said, “Any girl can be glamorous, all you have to do is stand still and look stupid.” Lemarr was far more than just a pretty face. She was brains too having patented a secret communications system called frequency hopping. to which we use to this day.

There is so much more to the story and going into more detail will just give it all away and I don't want to spoil it! You have to check it out for yourself!
Hedy Lamarr was a brave, stubborn, beautiful, brilliant human being and her life story would make a tremendous feature film.

This documentary was directed by Alexandra Dean, “Bombshell” is a film that uses interviews with actors, film historians and family, along with films clips, pictures and animation to piece together they story like a puzzle! The film clips used are not HD, but you can expect that as they were not originally shot in HD! All in all I thought the film was an amazing look into the past and into the life of an amazing woman! I thoroughly enjoyed it!

On this Blu-ray you not only get this documentary in HD, but than there is the bonus features; An interview with director Alexandria Dean, Outtakes with Gilligan Jacobs, Mel Brooks and Robert Osborne as well as trailers.

So if your a fan of Hedy Lemarr or classic Hollywood Cinema this documentary is for you! It is available on digital to rent or own at Amazon. You can also own it on Blu-ray or DVD by visiting Kino Lober.
