Party Girl (1995) Blu-ray Review

During the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic films were being released for home streaming, instead of in theaters. But this was not the first time this ever happened. One of the first time a film premiered on the internet was the 1995 and that film was Party Girl.

It is hard to believe that this film is coming upon its 30-year anniversary. So before it hits that magic number Fun City Editions are giving this film a chance to shine on Blu-ray featuring a 4K restoration.

Although Mary (Parker Posey) has little income, she still finds ways to spend her nights at clubs. After being arrested for throwing an illegal rave, she asks her aunt Judy (Sasha von Scherler) for bail money. Judy then finds Mary a job at her library so that Mary can repay her. Initially, Mary finds the job as a clerk boring and stifling and prefers to get to know a street food vendor (Omar Townsend) whom she likes. However, Mary must refocus her life once she loses her job and apartment.

Parker Posey really shines in this film. She is a very strong female character! If you are looking for an escape to a different time. Party Girl is a fun little escape. But be aware Party Girl is a film of a different era. There is a good amount of language that audiences in this generation may find extremely offensive. There is also brief nudity. These are things that audiences should be aware of going into this film.

Party Girl arrives on Blu-ray. The film is presented in 1080p in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The audio is a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. Finally, there is the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The Blu-ray transfer features a brand new 4k restoration from the 16mm Original Camera Negative. Party Girl's new restoration looks simple amazing. There are only very minor imperfections. But nothing really to rail on about. In addition to a new 4K restoration there is some extremely cool bonus features. Take a look at what is included in this Blu-ray set.
