Half Baked Totally High (2024) Blu-ray Review

When you think stoner films the first names that probably come to mind is Cheech and Chong. Over the years there have been attempts to capture the same magic these two had, with little success. In 1998 Dave Chappelle and Jim Breuer tried again not huge success, but over the years that film has become a cult classic.

Now over a quarter of a century later. Now that Marijana is legalized in a lot of states in the USA. More people are using weed. And it is time for another half baked adventure. Universal Pictures Home Video has released Half Baked Totally High on Blu-ray.

Ever since they first shared a joint as kids 10 years ago, JR, Miles, Cori and Bruce have been best buds. But their love of chronic kickstarts chaos after Bruce puffs on a fabled doobie containing 3 strains of weed that turns out to be fatal. Strapped for cash to send Bruce's body across the country for burial, the three remaining stoners stumble across an amazing strain of marijuana and blaze a trail across L.A.'s underground pot market, destroying the business of a ruthless and now very unhappy drug lord. This amps up the hilarious adventure that gets lit with outrageous antics, surprising suspense, and nonstop laughs.

This is not a typical comedy. This is a stoner comedy. So, the audience is going to be very niche. For people who don't enjoy the stoner comedy, this film will seem just crazy and many of the scenes are going to seem to make no sense. But for stoner film fans this will make perfect sense.

Now while this film does not come close to the Cheech and Chong films, it is an appropriate sequel to the original Dave Chappelle Half Baked film. The screenplay was written by Justin Hires and directed by Michael Tiddes. The film stars Dexter Darden (Maze Runner: The Death Cure), Moses Storm (Sunnyside), David Koechner (Ganymede) and Frankie Muniz (Agent Cody Banks, Big Fat Liar).

This film is for adult only. There is a ton of drug use, sexual content, language, graphic nudity and some violence. So, if you are offended by any of this, viewer beware!

Half Baked Totally High has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p in 2.00:1 aspect ratio. The audio is an English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. Now when you think this is a low budget feature. The film looks pretty amazing in HD. The dialogue is clear. There are no digital artifacts found on this disc.

Now for bonus features! This disc is bare bones. There is no trailer, interviews, commentaries, no digital copy. The thing that is the worst for me was the fact that there is not even a disc menu. The film just starts playing when the disc is inserted into the player.

If you are a fan of stoner films, you will get a kick out of this film. But make no mistake about it this is a graphic stoner film. And there are no bonuses. But if you want a stoner time head over to MovieZyng and order your copy today!
