In the 1960s there was an influx of British music groups that found their way to America. The one group that seemed to have the greatest success during The British Invasion was The Beatles.

There music gained them millions of fans and inspired musicians after them. Just some of them; Here Comes the Sun, Let It Be, Hey Jude, Come Together, Strawberry Fields Forever, A Day in the Life, Twist and Shout, Please Please Me, I Want to Hold Your Hand, Get Back, And I Love Her, All You Need Is Love, I’ve Got a Feeling, She Loves You, Yesterday, Help! and Yellow Submarine just to name a few.

George Harrison was a huge fan of Indian music. He once said, “When I first heard Indian music, I just couldn’t really believe that it was so great, and the more I heard of it, the more I liked it. It just got bigger and bigger, like a snowball.” The new documentary The Beatles and India explore their search for something greater.

On a search for spiritualism George, Paul John and Ringo found themselves in India. Living in less than luxurious housing, but trying to connect with a higher power. This new documentary examines how Indian music and culture shaped the music of John, Paul, George and Ringo and in turn, explores how The Beatles served as ambassadors of this pioneering World music sound and cultural movement.

The Beatles and India is expertly directed by Ajoy Bose. The documentary was filmed across beautiful locations of Mumbai, New Delhi, Rishikesh and Dehradun. Also used in this documentary are an array of unseen photographs, video footage and interviews uncovered in India.

The locations of India are gorgeous and the music of India is beautiful. No wonder George Harrison loved it so much. This documentary really gives a lot of insight to why The Beatles were in India, what caused them to leave India. I am so glad this story finally got a chance to be told.

This very informative documentary is presented in 1080p in widescreen format with audio options of 5.1 Surround sound and 2.0 Stereo Sound. There is also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. The film looks and sound stunning on Blu-ray.
