In 1950, western film star Randolph Scott starred in the western film featuring the origins of the iconic gun that tamed the West. Now, as the film has celebrated its 75th anniversary, Warner Archive Collection has restored and released this film on Blu-ray for the first time ever.
Synopsis: Gunsmith Steve Farrell (Randolph Scott) arrives in the town of Bonanza Flats to demonstrate the ultimate advancement in frontier weaponry; the new, rapid-firing Colt. 4 pistol. But when ruthless outlaw villain Brett Amrock (Zachary Scott) deceptively steals a pair of those revolutionary revolvers, he unleashes a brutal wave of terror across the territory. Wrongfully accused of aiding the bandits, Farrell must break away from the law, track down the vicious gang, and reclaim the deadly weapons before the West is completely overrun.
Colt .45 is a western that hits the ground running and barely lets up. This makes for an exciting and thrilling cinematic experience. Director Edwin L. Martin masterfully directed this gorgeously shot Technicolor western, which features great performances by Randolph Scott, Ruth Roman, Lloyd Bridges and Chief Thundercloud.
Warner Archive has restored and transferred this film to Blu-ray in 1080 and is presented in the original 1.37:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is an English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
The new Warner Archive 4k restoration is simply amazing. The colors literally pop off the screen. The picture is sharp and the audio is clear. There is no signs of damage to the print that I saw while screening this film. Warner Archive amazes yet again with another wonderful restoration.

Ever since I first saw a "So You Want To" short on TCM I have been in love with these classic comedy shorts. They are so hilarious and for me the addition of "So You Want To Have a Party" is a welcome bonus feature. And how can you go wrong with a classic Bugs Bunny cartoon?
If there is one thing against this release, I wish there were a few more bonus features. But a classic short and a cartoon are still pretty good, in my opinion.
