Exit 8 (Blu-ray Review)

One thing Japanese filmmakers know how to do it is make horror films. Some of the most terrifying horror films in history are from Japanese filmmakers. Director Genki Kawamura brought an extremely unique horror film to the world. That film is entitled Exit 8.

Neon has brought this film Exit 8 to Blu-ray. Now, if you love Japanese horror films and love physical media, you can add Exit 8 to your home video library.   

Synopsis: A man trapped in a endless sterile subway passageway sets out to find Exit 8. The rules of his quest are simple: do not overlook anything out of the ordinary. If you discover an anomaly, turn back immediately. If you don’t, carry on. Then leave from Exit 8. But even a single oversight will send him back to the beginning. Will he ever reach his goal and escape this infinite corridor?

Genki Kawamura brings to the world such a unique and haunting nightmare. The film features awesome cinematography and wonderful performances. But there is no denying that this is a slow-burn horror. Many may find this a huge downside, but others will enjoy it.

Neon has transferred Exit 8 to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is a Japanese-language DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. There is also subtitles in English and French.

The transfer is crisp and clean and the audio is clear. There is no signs of digital artifacts or audio anomalies. As for bonus features! Included on this Blu-ray there is Trailer, The Making of Exit 8 and a Q & A with Genki Kawamura.
