If you were a kid of the 1980s you no doubt watched He-Man and The Masters of the Universe. As kids, we wanted to see a live-action version of He-Man, and we got it with Dolph Lundgren. Okay, maybe not the best version in the world, but still a fun film, in my humble opinion.
He-Man fans have been hoping for a live-action version of He-Man to come to the big screen. Well, that happened this year (June 5, 2026), with Amazon MGM's production of Masters of the Universe starring Nicolas Galitzine, Jared Leto, Camila Mendes and Idris Elba.
Synopsis: After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Nicolas Galitzine) back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto). To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba) and embrace his true destiny as He-Man – the most powerful man in the universe.
Masters Of The Universe theatrical run grossed $113 million internationally. It has a 86% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans finally have a Masters of the Universe live-action film they have been hoping for.
Now for the exciting news! Masters Of The Universe will be out on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on October 20th. The 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray releases arrive with bonus features including a Behind-The-Scenes Promotional Gallery as well as "Masters of Light: Skies of Eternia Drone Spectacle."
