Lorne Michaels is an anomaly. No one really seems to know him very well. A very private person who lets few people into his life. So for this new documentary, we would get to go behind the curtain and see the true Wizard of Oz, or Wizard of SNL, if you will.

As we have written earlier, Lorne is a man who doesn't like to let people in. So this documentary is 99% other people talking about his life, work, ect. Lorne spoke maybe 10 words in the whole 2-hour documentary. That's crazy! If you agree to a documentary, you should be involved. But there again, it leads to the mystique of Lorne Michaels. Still there is a lot of great interviews with the cast, co-workers an friends.
Universal Home Entertainment had transferred this documentary to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. There are two audio tracks to choose from, an English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and an English DVS Dolby Digital 2.0. There is also the option of subtitles in English, Spanish and French.
This Blu-ray transfer is good. The picture is crisp and clean with no digital artifacts or audio anomalies. But for me, physical media really shines in the bonus features. Well, this Blu-ray has none. There are no additional interviews, tributes to Lorne Michaels, nothing. That is extremely disappointing to me.
