Is God Is Blu-ray Review | A Powerful Revenge Drama Comes to Blu-ray

In the 70s there was a genre of films that was entitled grindhouse. These films were extremely popular and inspired many film makers in this generation. One such director was Aleshea Harris.

Aleshea Harris' film Is God Is! No you didn't read that wrong, is coming to Blu-ray from Amazon MGM studios in late July 2026.

Synopsis: Twin sisters with disfiguring burn scars have their world upended when the mother they'd believed long dead summons them to her bedside and reveals that their father is responsible for her bedridden state as well as the twins' scars. When she orders the girls to kill their father for what he has done, the sisters must decide whether to seek vengeance or find mercy.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this film, but it was defiantly an unforgettable viewing experience. There is great performances by Kara Young, Mallori Johnson, Vivica A. Fox and Sterling K. Brown. Is God Is, is an ode to 70s grindhouse cinema. But is much more than just a revenge film. 

Amazon MGM has transferred this film to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in widescreen format. There are audio tracks in English DTS-HD Master Audio, English descriptive audio track, a French and Spanish tracks. There is also the option of subtitles in English, Spanish and French.

The Blu-ray transfer is a tremendous one. The quality of the film is crisp and clean, yet it has that gritty 70s feel to it. But the real disappointment of this Blu-ray release is there is no bonus features. I would like to to have seen an audio commnetary, interiews or making of featrurette. But alas there is nothing.
