Physical media horror fans have no doubt been snatching up these Wild Eye horror DVDs for quite a while now. The latest DVD release from Wild Eye Releasing is 2023's nightmare of a horror film experience, Watch Me Sleep.
Synopsis: Sean's grief over the loss of his mother soon turns to obsession, when he installs a 'coffin-cam' to keep vigil over his recently deceased mother. What begins as a desperate attempt to stay connected soon spirals into terror as the video feed captures movement--scratching, shifting, and the unmistakable sound of something pushing from inside the coffin. When the grave itself starts to respond, Sean realizes too late that what he's been watching has started watching him back.
Watch Me Sleep is truly a creepy and unsettling film. The low budget and handheld camera technique lend itself to making this film feel real. The acting isn't great and the story is a bit thin. But the film directed by John Williams (The Slayers, Creatures of the Night) and Steve Wood, is an eerie film harkens itself to the classic Hammer Horror films of yesteryear. This film good or bad will stay with you long after the credits roll.
Watch Me Sleep has been transferred to DVD and is presented in widescreen format. The audio track in an English stereo track and there are English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
The DVD transfer is good, there are no signs of digital artifacts or audio anomalies. And as for bonus features, this DVD has the film's trailer as well as additional trailers and an image gallery. Kind of disappointing.
Personally, some additional featurettes like a making of featurette, an audio commentary or interviews would have taken this DVD release to a whole other level. But there is no denying that if you are looking for something extra creepy to watch. Watch Me Sleep will definitely fit the bill.
If you would like to add Watch me Sleep to your home video library, head over to MVD Shop or Amazon and order your copy today, and let your skin crawl.
