Resident Alien: The Complete Series Blu-ray Review – Sci-Fi Comedy Hit Finally Lands on Blu-ray

The fish out of water story has been told throughout the generations. Whether it was in stage performances, movies or television. That story is timeless. In 2012 Dark Horse Comics released the ultimate fish out of water story created by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse entitled Resident Alien.

In 2021, a television adaptation was produced by Syfy and starred Alan Tudyk. Universal Home Entertainment has released all four seasons of this sci-fi series on Blu-ray. Now Physical Media fans never have to worry about an internet connection or streaming services.

Synopsis: Resident Alien follows Harry (Alan Tudyk), who crash lands on Earth and passes himself off as a small-town human doctor. Arriving with a secret mission to kill all humans, Harry starts off living a simple life but things get a bit rocky when he's roped into solving a local murder and realizes he needs to assimilate into his new world. This complete series set includes all four seasons of the hit sci-fi dramedy, packed with mystery, heart, and extraterrestrial laughs.

Alan Tudyk is pure gold as Harry. The way he plays the oblivious alien is hilarious and doesn't even feel like a performance. The whole entire cast of this series is pitch perfect. The writing is spot on and really progresses the story of Harry's mission.

Universal has transferred these episodes to Blu-ray in 1080p and are presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is an English Dolby Digital 5.1. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

These episodes are stretched across 10 Blu-ray discs. These Blu-ray transfers are crisp and clean with no signs of digital artifacts or audio anomolies. The colors are bright and vibrant and the fleshtones are correct. Now as for bonus features it is a bit on the skimpy side. There is just deleted scenes. 

Each season has it's pwn individual Blu-ray case. Than all these 4 Blu-ray cases are housed in a sturdy cardborad box slip with unique artwork. I love artwork so to have all these different case art is a definate plus.
