Coyotes (2025) Blu-ray Review – Creature-Feature Thriller Hits Physical Media

Writer-director Colin Minahan is known for his horror films like It Stains the Sand Red and What Keeps You Alive. In 2025 he brought to the world a horror film not steeped in supernatural horror or crazy monsters. But in real life terror with his film Coyotes.

Now horror film fans can rejoice as this new film Coyotes is coming to Blu-ray. Physical media fans can add this comedy horror film to their collections.

Synopsis: Trapped in their Hollywood Hills home, a family fights for survival when caught between a raging wildfire and a pack of savage coyotes.

Coyotes is not a straight horror film, not by a long shot. This film is a comedy horror film. This film is played for laughs. Think of Cocaine Bear! Now the absurd comedy horror is a genre that a lot of people enjoy. And if you do you will get a kick out of this film.

One of the glowing problems with this film is the CGI. I'm not sure if the producers used AI for the coyotes in this film. But whatever they used it's pretty apparent that it doesn't work well. It's not the worst I have ever seen, but it is clearly apparent these are not real coyotes.

Justin Long and Kate Bosworth and the rest of the cast play their roles straight even though everything around them is crazy. This makes this film an absurdly fun watch!

Coyotes has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is an English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

As far as the film transfer goes the picture quality is crisp and clean. There is no compression issues or audio anomalies. As for bonus features there is just one. It is a featurette "Meet the Pack" Behind the Scenes for the Makers. One of the major reasons to buy Blu-0ray is for the bonus features. Sadly, there is not that much here!

In the end, Coyotes is a mixed bag. It is an off the wall crazy creature feature. That doesn't try to take itself too seriously. That's a plus, but the unconvincing visual effects really hinders this film in its believability!

If you are into the absurd off-the-wall B-movies. Well, the Blu-ray of Coyotes might just fit the bill for your collection. Just don't expect terrifying horror! Head over to Amazon and order your copy of Coyotes today!

Out of 4 film reels (4 being the best) the Blu-ray of Coyotes receives......
