Blu-ray Review: Two and a Half Men The Complete Series

1970s TV audiences followed the adventures of two men trying to live together without diving each other crazy. Yes, I am talking about the 5 seasons of Felix and Oscar The Odd Couple. This was the template for great sitcoms throughout the years.

In 2003 there would be another sitcom that would grace out TV screens with the idea of two men trying to live together who were polar opposites. In this show they would be brothers. The show was "Two and a Half Men". And now the complete 12 Seasons of this show is on Blu-ray!

Synopsis: Get set for an extended visit to Malibu's most happening beach house with The Complete Series of one of the longest running live-action sitcoms in TV history, Two and a Half Men. Join brothers Charlie and Alan Harper; their estranged (and strange) kids, Jenny and Jake; gazillionaire Walden Schmidt; and housekeeper Berta for 12 years of hilarious high jinks with bad boys, funny men, gorgeous girls, celebrity neighbors, sexy stalkers, eccentric parents and more.

Two and a Half Men is not a sitcom for the whole family. not by a longshot. Charlie is all about pleasure no matter how raunchy they may seem and the other side of the coin Alan is a stuffed shirt. It leads to a lot of fun banter. But don't sit the kids down for this one.

Charlie Sheen had "trouble" and was released from the show after the eighth season. That is a pretty good run. But producers wanted to continue with the show, so they killed off Charlie's character and brought in Ashton Kutcher to co-star with Jon Cryer's Allan. In all honesty they probably should have left well enough alone. But that's my opinion.

The show ran for a successful 12 seasons and 262 episodes. Now all these episodes have been spread across 25 Blu-ray discs. The episodes have been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and are presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The audio tracks are a Dolby Digital 2.0 and Dolby Digital 5.1. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

These episodes look and sound crisp and clean and there are no signs of digital artifacts or audio anomalies. Now as for bonus features! This Blu-ray set features; Gag Reels; Featurettes; Writer, Producer and Actor Commentaries and a Bonus Episode.

Now as many who read my reviews know I love bonus features and to me ones of my favorite type of bonus feature is the gag reel. I truly enjoy the crack ups and the fun that you don't see in the episodes. That is a great bonus feature for me.

Something that is also a great help is that each of these discs are color coded. Each season has its own color. That is a nice feature. It may seem simple, but it is really a nice way to keep you on track. Also, on the inside of the Blu-ray insert has the listing of all the episodes on each disc in that Blu-ray case. Very nice!

Warner Brothers have been giving TV fans these massive Blu-ray and DVD releases that we physical media fans can add to our collections, and I could not be happier. Major Kudos for the hard work they are putting in!

So, if you enjoyed the series Two and a Half Men why not add the complete series on Blu-ray to your home video library. Then you can enjoy the antics of Charlie, Allan and the rest of the crazies anytime you want. There is so much bang for your buck in this set.
