Daddy (2023) Anchor Bay /MVD Blu-ray Review

Since Anchor Bay Entertaiment has risen from the dead, we have seen some really cool Blu-rays from their partnership with MVD Visual. The latest Blu-ray we saw was the awesome documentary of the life and career of Gunnar Hansen entitled "My Dinner with Leatherface".

Anchor Bay acquired the award winning dystopian future sci-fi comedy Daddy. Now Anchor Bay and MVD are releasing this film on Blu-ray!

Synopsis: In a dystopian society where the state has the power to determine who can and cannot father children, four men attend a government sanctioned retreat in the remote mountains of California. When they show up at the site, only to find no guide or instructions waiting for them, they are left to their own devices and must prove to themselves--and each other--that they have what it takes to become fathers.

Daddy was co-written and co-directed by Neal Kelley and Jono Sherman in what is their feature film debut. The film stars Yuriy Sardarov (Chicago Fire, Argo, The Ides of March), Jacqueline Toboni (The L Word: Generation Q, Easy, Grimm), Pomme Koch (WeCrashed, The Band’s Visit) and Britt Baron (GLOW, The Thing About Harry). 

The film is a unique and unnerving film that takes the sci-fi, drama, action and adventure genres sprinkles in a little satire and social commentary throws it in the blender than presses pulse. What comes out it is a weird, wild and crazy film that will have your eyes glued to the screen, not because it is a great film, but because you have to see what happens. It's like seeing a car crash, you have to see what's going on.

Daddy has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in widescreen format. The film's transfer is crisp and clean. There are no signs of digital artifacts on this print. MVD did a tremendous job with this transfer. But there is also some very cool bonus features included on this disc.

The addition of the insightful audio commentary by the directors, the web series and more MVD really  made some nice bonuses that enhance the release and make it just a little bit better. Bonus features always make a physical media release better!
