The Toxic Crusaders: The Complete Series Blu-ray Review

Something that always boggled my imagination was that kid's cartoons were made from movies that those same kids should never have seen. We saw cartoons like Robocop, Rambo, Conan, Police Academy and more. These were R Rated films and yet they were made into kid friendly cartoons.

Well, then there was The Toxic Avenger. Now that film from Troma Entertainment was defiantly far from kid friendly entertainment, yet it also received a cartoon series in the beginning of 1991.

If you would have told me that The Toxic Crusaders cartoon series would get a Blu-ray release, I would have told you, you are crazy. Yet here we are at the end of 2024 and The Toxic Crusaders cartoon series is on a 2-disc Blu-ray set. I guess truly anything is possible!

Synopsis: The lovable deformed creature of superhuman size and strength, Toxie is joined by his new friends Yvonne, No-Zone, Head-Banger, and Junkyard as they fight for truth and justice against the evil Dr. Kilemoff and his hoards of heinous henchmen!

The Toxic Crusaders is a fun cartoon series filled with amazing characters. The animation is top notch just like you find in cartoons of that era like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Than there is the voice actors, they are spectacular in this series. The show ran for only 13 episodes. That is almost criminal. It was so much fun, this show should have run a few more years.

All 13 episodes have been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p they are presented in the original full screen format, so no stretching of the picture here. The audio is a Dolby Digital 2.0. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. These restored episodes look and sound simply amazing! But that is not all that is included on this Blu-ray set. Troma Entertainment really put the work into this release. From the beautifully restored episodes to the new features and the archival material. This is a Blu-ray that is truly something cartoon fans are going to love. And I will even go a step further. This is a release cartoon fans need in their collection.
