Vacation (2015) 4k UltraHD Review

Film producers seem to never want to leave the classics alone. So, they remake reboot and revival classic movies and TV shows. National Lampoon's Vacation and Christmas Vacation are Chase Chase classics. But in 2015 Ed Helms and Christina Applegate would bring a new generation a chance to enjoy a Vacation to Wally World.

Warner Brother Home Entertainment earlier this released the classic Chevy Chase Vacation on deluxe 4k UltraHD. Now for a perfect companion 4k to go alongside the classic. Warner Brothers has given the 2015 revival movie a 4k release as well.

Synopsis: The next generation of Griswolds is at is again -- and on the road for another ill-fated adventure. Following in his father's footsteps, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), and their sons with a cross-country road trip back to America's "favorite family fun park," Walley World.

Okay so when you try to make a movie revival and replace the main characters, you're fighting a losing battle in my humble opinion. Mostly the reason the 'Vacation' movies worked was Chevy Chase, he was made for the role of the Griswold patriarch.

While Ed Helms and Christina Applegate are great, they just don't seem to be able to match the chemistry between Chase and D'Angelo. Also, the comedy in this film is really lowbrow and many in this generation may find the comedy offensive. But if you are a fan of the original film series, you might get a kick out of this revival movie. Even look out for an appearance from Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo themselves.

Warner Bros. has transferred Vacation to 4K Ultra HD and is presented with a 2160p high-definition transfer and shown in its original 2.40 widescreen aspect ratio. The audio track is a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. Finally, there is the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Vacation has been transferred to 4k. And while the film looks crisp and clean. There is no damage to the print and there are no digital artifacts. A 4k release really doesn't do much to make this film better. Let's take a look at the bonus features included on thus 4k.

* Return to Wally World: A 10 minute featurette with interviews

* The Griswold Odyssey: A near 20 minute trip from Illinois to California and a look at Tartan Prancer.

* Gag Reel

* Deleted Scenes

Even with the lowbrow humor Vacation is an entertaining film, but nowhere near hits the heights of the original film. The 4k really brings a nice picture quality and the bonuses that are a very nice addition to this disc.

If you are a fan of the vacation movies and want to see the 'next generation' of Griswolds. Well, this 4k is a nice way to experience it. Head over to MovieZyng or Amazon and order your copy today.

 Out of 4 film reels (4 being the best) the 4K of Vacation receives.....
