It's hard to believe this film will soon be coming upon its 60th anniversary of it' release. But for the 58th anniversary this new Blu-ray release of 1966's Las Vegas Hillbillys will be great alongside the Blu-ray of Hillbillys in a Haunted House!
Synopsis: In the backwoods of Tennessee, country singer Woody Weatherby receives word that he has inherited a casino in Las Vegas. Elated, Woody and his buddy Jeepers head for Nevada in their dilapidated jalopy Lightnin'. When they arrive, they find that their bonanza is nothing but a debt-ridden dive. Enlisting the aid of Jayne Mansfield and Mamie Van Doren, the boys are determined to make Woody's Golden Circle a success. Jayne is hired to manage the gambling concession while Mamie is supposed to be a singer, but most of the time they just hang around and look pretty (so what's wrong with that?). But it takes the shrewd business sense of Aunt Clem from back home to make the place really take off.
Las Vegas Hillbillys is a very fun, entertaining, fast paced little feature film. Country singer Ferlin Husky is a great lead as Woody. He is joined by a great supporting cast Jayne Mansfield as Tawny, Mamie Van Doren as Boots Malone and the hilarious Don Bowman as Jeepers.
But this film is not just the fun, it's the music. If you love country music like those found on the TV show Hee Haw you will be thrilled with this film. We get the country comedy of Duke of Paducah and the music of country stars like, Bill Anderson, Wilma Burgess, Roy Drusky, Sonny James, Del Reeves and Connie Smith.
Las Vegas Hillbillys has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and it presented in 1.33:1 aspect ratio. The audio is a is a LPCM 2.0. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Now i have seen other copies of "Las Vegas Hillbillys" before and they are let's just say less than stellar. But here VCI Entertainment have restored this film and the colors are bright and vibrant and the audio is clear. But a beautiful looking copy of this film is not all that is included in this release.
