The Shaw Brothers were prolific in bringing entertaining films to kung fu fans. 88 Films have been bringing these Shaw Brothers films to deluxe Blu-rays. The latest film released was Kung Fun Instructor but it's time for a look at more Shaw Brothers Blu-rays this time we look at "Kid from Kwangtung".

First off from this title you may be thinking where is Kwangtung. Well, Kwangtung is modern-day Guangdong a province of China. But the providence has little to do with the plot of the 1982's Kid From Kwangtung.

Synopsis
: After an evil martial arts master (played by the very great Hwang Jang-li (Snake in the Eagle's Shadow) kills their own teacher, Wong Yu (The Shadow Boxing) and Chiang Kam (The Young Master) realize that they're next. But can the squabbling duo put their differences aside long enough to defeat him? You'll have to see the film to find out.

At the time Jackie Chan was having huge success with his kung fu comedies. So, the Shaw Brothers tried to build their own library of kung fu comedies and Kid from Kwangtung.
Actor turned director Hsia Hsu had appeared with Jackie Chan before so he understood how the kung fu comedy worked, making him the perfect choice for this Shaw Brothers film. Kid from Kwangtung is a fun and exciting little kung fu film!

88 Films transferred Kid from Kwangtung to Blu-ray in 1080p. The film is presented in
2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen format. There are two audio options. There is a Cantonese audio is LPCM 2.0 and an English dub track in LPCM 2.0. The movie is subtitled.

This new HD transfer comes from the
original negative. The film looks and sounds crisp and clean. It makes for a really enjoyable experience. But that is not all that is included here on this Blu-ray. 88 Films added some great bonus features. take a look at what is included

Just like the "Kung Fu Instructor" Blu-ray. The artwork really makes this release so much better. I enjoy the art cards and I love the reversible Blu-ray insert that includes the original poster. It's so cool to remove the slipcover and reveal the original poster art.
