A fun double dose of Japanese low budget horror

There is no denying that the slasher film is a part of movie culture. Who reading this can honestly say they have never watched a slasher film? Whether it's classics like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, Suspira or Deep Red or whether you love for the Friday the 13th series. One thing is for sure movie fans love slasher films.

So no doubt there are tons of them. But than there is a sub genre of slasher and it is the spoof slasher. These films have the slasher formula, but don't take it so seriously. Wild Eye Releasing have released two new DVDs from writer/director Yu Nakamoto (Phone of the dead). These are bound to entertain.

Ikenie Man (2019)
A group of college friends meet in a desolate forest for a reunion and are soon stalked by a masked killer who may be connected to their past. One by one they are attacked by the machete welding maniac and must band together if they are to survive the weekend.

Harawata Man (2019) A low budget film crew shooting in a abandoned factory accidentally awaken the Harawata Man (The Intestines Man), who hunts them down in a wild bloodbath as they attempt to finish their film under the leadership of an equally maniacal producer.

Both of these films run under an hour, Ikenie Man is 52 minutes and Harawata Man is 46 minutes. These are low budget horror films. They know the budget it not big enough for serious horror so they just have fun with it. And I think you will too. Just stay calm and have fun with them.

Wild Eye Releasing have given both of these films a DVD release. They have transferred this films to DVD in widescreen format. The audio is the original Japanese audio in stereo. And don't worry if you don't speak Japanese, English subtitles have been provided.

These films look nice on DVD. There is no digital artifacts that I witnessed when viewing these films. The DVDs come with on disc bonus of the trailers for these films. And one of the really cool bonuses is the DVD insert is reversible. It features the original Japanese poster art on one side and the brand new poster art from Japanese artist Kit Nishino. I love additional artwork!

These films are not made to be taken seriously. These are just made for a fun time. When I screened these I thought of how cool these might be at someone's Halloween party. Sit down laugh at the absurdity of it all. And you can watch this double feature of Japanese horror in the time it takes to watch one American horror film. These films have a true fun factor to them as you can enjoy the over the top hilarious death scenes.

So if you are looking for something a bit different for your horror movie collection. You might want to try this double feature from Wild Eye Releasing of Ikenie Man and Harawata Man. Order a copy of Ikenie Man at MVD Shop or Oldies and Harawata Man at MVD Shop or Oldies.
