Your Honor: The First Season Blu-ray Review

Bryan Cranston burst onto our television screens in as the unforgettable Walter in Breaking Bad and Hal in the sitcom Malcom in the Middle. His performances earned him Primetime Emmy Awards, Tony Awards, Golden Globes and was nominated for an Academy Award.

In December of 2020 Peter Moffat adapted the Israeli TV series Kvodo for American Showtime Television in a series entitled "Your Honor" starring Bryan Cranston. Now CBS Home Entertainment have released the first season of Your Honor on Blu-ray.

Synopsis: Bryan Cranston stars as a New Orleans judge who is forced to confront his own deepest convictions when his son is involved in a hit and run that embroils an organized crime family. As a storm of vengeance, lies and deceit threatens to engulf the entire city, Michael Desiato faces a series of increasingly impossible choices and discovers just how far an honest man will go to save his son's life.

Bryan Cranston is simply amazing the judge father willing to go beyond the law to protect his son. Your Honor is a violently graphic series. There is a ton of adult language. I could have done without the gore violence and extreme profanity!

There is no denying the fact the show is engaging. I found myself watching this show in a matter of a couple of days. The storyline is a story that has been told before. A father going to extreme lengths to protect his child. But the best part of this is the twist ending, that I wasn't expecting.

This 10-episode season 1 event is collected on 3 Blu-ray discs. Each episode is transferred in 1080p and is presented in widescreen format. The audio is a DTS-HD Master audio 5.1. There is also option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

These episodes look and sound crisp. There are no digital artifacts on these transfers. Of course, it is understandable that these episodes look so good on Blu-ray as they were shot just a few years ago. So, they are shot and preserved in HD! The first 4 episode on disc one, 3 on disc two and 3 on disc three.

But 10 episodes is not all that is included on this Blu-ray. There is the inclusion of bonus features, deleted scenes: Almost eight minutes of material not included in the episodes. While the deleted scenes are a nice bonus, I would have like to have seen some additional material. Maybe some interviews, a commentary or two, maybe even a featurette. That would have taken this release to the next level.

While Your Honor has kind of been passed over during its original run, that is probably why it only lasted a short 2 seasons before it's cancellation. But it is a captivating show, defiantly worth checking out!

So if you love the work of Bryan Cranston or are a fan of mafia, gang crime programs, Your Honor will probably be a series you will enjoy. Head over to MovieZyng and order your copy of Season 1 of Your Honor on Blu-ray today!
