Cocaine Werewolf (2024) Blu-ray Review

Last Year (2023) the world was taken on a crazy ride with a bear that was on a high. Yes I am talking about Cocaine Bear. Now this film was based on a true story, which in this day and age doesn't surprise me. But it was a crazy film, but a lot of fun. So with the success of Cocaine Bear, there is no doubt that film makers would want to cash in on the popularity, by doing their own version.

Well, if you are going to do a film like that you need the right director. That director would be Mark Polonia known for directing such films as The Amityville Exorcism, Sharkcula, Invasion of the Empire of the Apes, Bigfoot vs. Zombies and Cocaine Shark.

Now granted none of this films are great pieces of cinema. But they are entertaining comedy horror. So when you want to spoof Cocaine Bear your get Mark Polonia. And he directed a drug fused horror adventure that will keep you entertained. That film is Cocaine Werewolf coming to Blu-ray from Cleopatra Entertainment!

Synopsis: In the deep, shadowy woods of Pennsylvania, a low-budget film crew is blindsided by the arrival of a ravenous werewolf. When you mix this terrifying predator with cash, cocaine, and a cast of fresh-faced young actors, you get a chaotic, adrenaline-fueled disaster like no other.

Director Mark Polonia brings some actors and actresses he has worked with before for this release. We see talents of Brice Kennedy (Splatter Beach, Razorteeth), Jamie Morgan (Amityville Island, Return To Splatter Farm), Ken Van Sant (Bigfoot vs Zombies, Jurassic Prey), Titus Himmelberger (Cocaine Shark, Sharkenstein), Yolie Canales (Jurassic Shark 3, Amityville In Space), Jeff Kirkendall (Sharkula, Return To Splatter Farm) and Noyes Lawton (Jurassic Exorcist, Bride Of The Werewolf).

Now let's be honest here with the name Cocaine Werewolf you know you are not in for a serious horror film here. This is a crazy comedy horror romp. Now the acting is okay nothing spectacular here. The effects are cheesy, but of course that is what you are going for in these horror comedy films. The best part of this film is the goth-inspired soundtrack that features The 69 Cats, Pink Fairies, Frontline Assembly, Switchblade Symphony, The Brains, Hollywood After Dark, and more.

Now this horror film is not going to be for everyone. This is only for fans of the comedy horror genre. If you go in expecting a serious horror film, you will be extremely disappointed. One thing that this film has going for it is it doesn't stay around to long. Running under an hour and 20 minutes its just faced paced fun.

MVD Visual and Cleopatra Entertainment have partnered to bring Cocaine Werewolf to Blu-ray. The film has been transferred in 1080p and is presented in widescreen format and the audio is an LPCM 2.0. The Blu-ray transfer is crisp and clean with no signs of digital artifacts. There are no English subtitles! But there are some bonus features!

* “Director’s Commentary” (exclusive to the Blu-ray release)
* Trailers
* Slide Show

I love the addition of the Director's commentary. This brings much more insight to the making of this campy horror film. It is exclusive to the Blu-ray release. So if you do want this special bonus make sure to pick up the Blu-ray instead of the DVD!
