Frasier Season 1 (2023) DVD Review

There are some shows in the history of television that are considered some of the best. One of those TV shows was Cheers, a place where everyone knows your name. There were a lot of unforgettable characters in this series. The one that always stood out to me was Dr. Frasier Crane. He always seemed so out of place at the bar. Like a fish out of water.

The character of Frasier was so popular that he would receive his own spin-off show. The show would run for 11 season and a total of 264 episodes.

In recent years many classic shows have been seeing a revival. And Paramount+ decided on the 20th anniversary of the shows finale that they would bring back Kelsey Grammer for one more run as the good doctor Frasier Crane.

Shortly after the death of his father, Martin Crane, the end of his relationship with Charlotte, and his TV show, Dr. Frasier Crane returns to Boston with one hope in mind. He is there to mend fences and have a better relationship with his son, Frederick. Not long after he arrives he moves in and subsequently purchases the apartment building where Freddy lives and takes takes a professorship at his almamater Harvard University.

Now I enjoy streaming TV and movies just as much as the next guy. But I have loved physical media my entire life. I have been collecting movies since middle school. And I have to be honest I would never have thought we would see a DVD release for this new streaming show! But here we are!

Paramount Home Entertainment have released the complete first season on DVD. All 10 season one episodes are collected here on two DVD discs. And there is a bonus of a hilarious season 1 gag reel.

Disc One: The Good Father / Moving In / First Class / Trivial Pursuits / The Founders' Society

Disc Two: Blind Date / Freddy's Birthday / The B Story / The Fix Is In / Reindeer Games

The new series of Frasier had some pretty large shoes to fill. And for all intents and purposes they do an amazing job. Frasier is still Frasier. Jack Cutmore-Scott is great as Frederick "Freddy" Crane. The dynamic between the two is spectacular. Anders Keith as David Crane, Frasier's nephew and Freddy's cousin who was born in the Frasier series finale and is the son of Niles Crane and Daphne Moon. I can imagine it's difficult to play a character they people have always wondered what would be like. Anders does an exceptional job. In fact the entire cast does great here!

The stories of each episode of this season is well written and tremendously performed. There is only two problems I had with this season. #1 it was too short and #2 I didn't like that there was a couple profanities. I get it, it's a streaming show so you can get away with more, but I would prefer a much more family friendly series!

These 10 episodes have been transferred to DVD in  widescreen format and the audio is an English 5.1 Dolby Digital. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. These episodes look and sound amazing. The picture is sharp and the colors are vibrant. The audio is clear. There is no signs of digital artifacts found on these discs.

If you love Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Frasier Crane, I think you will get a kick out of seeing him again in all new adventures. This first season is full of fun and a some surprise guest stars (I won't spoil it here). So head over to Moviezyng and order your copy of Season 1 of the new Frasier series.

Out of 4 TV Sets (4 being the best) the DVD of Frasier Season 1 receives....
