Birthright Outlaw (2023) DVD Review

Westerns we extremely popular in the 50s and 60s. It seemed like every other film was a western. But audiences seemed to have western fatigue. Then westerns more or less disappeared. Well, recently there has been more westerns produced.

Over the last several years faith-based westerns have been produced and audiences have been eating them up like ice cream. In 2023 a new western entitled Birthright Outlaw was released. Not Sony Pictures Home Entertainment are releasing this film on DVD for physical media fans.

Her father said her birthright was sealed. A frontier pastor's love told her otherwise. But when their daughter is kidnapped by her outlaw grandfather, can this couple trust God and each other to rewrite their destiny?

Birthright Outlaw features a great screenplay, strong
acting and top-notch production value. It also features tremendous character development. Lucas Black is a great frontier preacher Jeremiah, but Sarah Drew really stands out in this tale. A strong female in the old west was not the norm by any means. Everyone in this film is great, but it was really cool seeing Jeff Fahey. I remember seeing him in another faith-based film many years ago entitled Revelation the sequel to Apocalypse.

Justin Strawhand and Aaron Burns co-wrote this screenplay and Aaron Burns expertly directed this western adventure. Now while this is a faith-based western drama. And while the theme of the story is redemption and forgiveness. It doesn't beat you over the head with a bible. So that is a great thing.

Birthright Outlaw has been transferred to DVD in widescreen format in 2.39:1 aspect ratio. The audio is a Dolby Digital 5.1. There are options for subtitles in English, French and Spanish language.

The picture quality of this transfer is amazing. The film looks is crisp and clean. The colors are fresh, and the skin tones are perfect. The audio is as clear as a bell. And this transfer has no signs of digital artifacts found in this disc.

Sadly, there are no bonus features on this disc. I would have really enjoyed an interview with Sarah Drew and Lucas Black. And audio Commentary with writers Justin Strawhand and Aaron Burns. That would have been a great listen. But that didn't happen. The other downer here is that this is a Made-On-Demand DVD. I would have preferred a pressed DVD as they have a longer life. But all these are minor complaints.

This is a very entertaining western drama, with impressive performances! While this film was released in 2023, it has a real classic feel to it! I think fans of the western genre will find this film a nice addition to this western film libraries.

If you love a good western tale about redemption, why not try this new release of Birthright Outlaw. Head over to MovieZyng and order your copy today!
