Ann Marie is an aspiring actress moves from her hometown of Brewster, New York, to try to make it big in New York City, having to take several offbeat "temp" jobs to support herself in between her various auditions and bit parts.
When you think of female led sitcoms most will think, I Love Lucy, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie or The Golden Girls. That Girl is not on a lot of people's lists of the best sitcoms and that is a shame.
Marlo Thomas brings all the sweetness of Mary Richards, the innocence of Jeannie and the crazy antics of Lucy and mixes it all together to make her character of Anne Marie, unforgettable. The supporting cast of Anne's Boyfriend Donald Hollinger played by Ted Bessell and Lew Marie her father played by Lew Parker.
The one thing that always made this show so unique was every episode started with a cold open. In it there was always someone who would make a reference to her as "that girl", then the camera would freeze frame on a surprised Ann. I always enjoyed seeing those openings! It really set the show apart from other shows.

All 136 episodes are spread across 15 DVDs. The episodes are presented in the original full screen format. The audio is a Dolby Digital 2.0. In addition, there is English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. I am glad that there is no stretching of the picture to fit the widescreen TVs of today, as I have seen in some releases. These episodes look and sound pretty great on DVD.
All of these seasons have their own DVD cases with unique season artwork. These DVD cases have hubs for each DVD there is no stacking cases here, thankfully. Also in addition these Season 1-5 DVD cases are housed in a cardboard case which the artwork you can see above.
