Suburra (2015) Blu-ray Review

In the history of cinema there were many great films that delt with the mob. I'm talking about such classics as Little Ceasar, On the Waterfront, Public Enemy, The Godfather Saga and Goodfellas just to name a few. 

Now many may remember the 2017 Netflix series entitled Suburra: Blood on Rome. That series was based on the 2015 mob film entitled Suburra. Now thanks to Unearthed Films, fans of gangsters or crime dramas can own Suburra on Blu-ray.

In 2011, Ostia is the subject of a giant real estate project intended to make the harbor of Ancient Rome the Las Vegas of today. But the place soon becomes a battlefield where criminals and politicians either join forces cynically or fight each other ruthlessly. The infernal showdown will last seven days, claiming many lives.

Now as with most mob inspired films in this generation, they are very raw and rough films. Well, Suburra is no different. The violence is pretty intense. There is a good amount of sexual content including nudity and strong profanity through the film. So, this is a purely adult feature film.

Suburra really delivers an entertaining story, but I think the one thing that counts against this film is the time frame. It runs 2 hours and 15 minutes. For this story in my humble opinion, a little bit sleeker of a time would have taken this film from a good one to a must see!

Unearthed Films has transferred this film to Blu-ray in 1080p in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. There are two audio options a 5.1 Dolby Digital or a 2.0 both audio versions are in Italian. There are also English subtitles.  

This film looks and sounds tremendous on Blu-ray. There are no digital artifacts! There are no hiss or pops. This is a really nice transfer. But that is not all that is included on this Blu-ray! Unearthed Films added some really epic bonus features here! Take a look at what is included.

The deep detail found in the making of documentary is amazing. It runs almost as long as the film itself! Fans of Suburra will be thrilled with this documentary! For the film's flaws Unearthed Films did a good job bringing a Blu-ray that will be a must add addition to anyones mob inspired Blu-ray collection.
