Now while Batman maybe best known for his nickname "The Dark Knight" he is also known as many others including, "the Caped Crusader", "World's Greatest Detective" and the "Defender of Gotham". Now in addition to many comic book adventures, he also graces the small screen and big screen with countless animated and live action TV and feature films.
Director Miguel Somoza brings us a look at the Caped Crusader from comic books to TV to Films. In this film not only do we track the origins of Bruce Wayne aka Batman himself, but also the great rogues gallery of villains including, The Penguin, Catwoman, Bane, Ra's al Ghul, Poison Ivy and yes The Joker and Harley Quinn.
Vigilante runs a mere 48 minutes, and is very fast paced little film. There are many images from the comics and TV series and movies used in this documentary. There is also clips Michael Caine, Christopher Nolan more. I felt like I just got started watching and the end credits began to roll. I kind of wished the film would have been longer. Roly Gutiérrez (Gintama, Go Astro Boy Go!, Super Shiro) lends his voice to the narration of this documentary and does a remarkably good job.
The only real downside to this release that I can see is that there is no bonus features. But for me, a physical media enthusiast, I am so happy to be able to add this cool little documentary to my Batman collection.
If you love documentary films as much as I do and are a fan of Batman this is one little film you are going to want to have in your collection. Head over to Amazon and order your copy today.
