Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors: The Complete Series (DVD Review)

Reviewed by Jason Lockard

The 1980s was truly an epic age for animated adventure series. The 80s brought us Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, G.I. Joe, He-Man, The Real Ghostbusters, Voltron, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, C.O.P.S., Thundercats, Superman and so many more.

Reliving these cartoon shows over 30 years later they still hold up the adventures are still great and the animation is just timeless. One of those cartoon series was Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. The good folks at Mill Creek Entertainment released the entire series of the cartoon classic on DVD.

The series follows Jayce, Flora, Herc Stormsailor, Oon, and Gillian known as the Lightning League in their search for Jayce's father Audric. In their search they are opposed by the evil Saw Boss and his followers, the Monster Minds  planet-based creatures.

The stories are out of this world fun, scripted by acclaimed writers such as J. Michael Straczynski (creator of Babylon 5).
The music is retro and amazing created by composers Shuki Levy and Haim Saban. Than there is the animation. Call me crazy, but I love the 80s style animation so much more than the CGI of this generation.

Episodes of Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors have been released on DVD, but never the complete series. That is until Mill Creek Entertainment came along! They acquired the rights to the series and decided to give fans what they have wanted forever. The complete Series DVD Set.

Now all 65 episodes are spread over a 6 disc DVD set. Enough room for the episodes to breathe yet not become overcrowded and suffer in quality. The episodes are presented in their original full screen format, so thankfully there is no stretching of the picture to make them fit HD televisions.
