Warner Archive is known for bringing film fans those classic films on restored Blu-rays. They have been doing some amazing work over the last few years and in 2021 it was no different!
So now we are going to countdown our top 10 favorite Blu-ray releases. Easily this could be just a list of all there releases for there is not one bad Blu-ray in the lost, but for this list we narrowed it down to just the Top 10.
10. I love films based on true story and Cary Grant was joined by than wife Betsy Drake for a family comedy drama about a wife who adopts orphans to the already crowded house in Room for One More.
9. James Stewart was good in any kind of film be it drama, comedy, biopic or even westerns. And The Naked Spur was won film I was so excited about what I heard it was coming to Blu-ray and I was not disappointed.
8. One of my favorite classic comedians was Bob Hope. Known for his crazy comedies in his early career Bob Hope transitioned to more sophisticated comedies as he got older as is witnessed in Bachelor in Paradise
7. In just te third film of Dame Elizabeth Taylor's young career you could tell she was a star in the making! Warner Archive released this film on Blu-ray. We are talking about the literary classic National Velvet!
6. The Great James Cagney is known for his early tough guy roles and in this film noir Each Dawn I Die James plays a reporter framed for manslaughter. This Blu-ray not only includes a tremendous transfer but some nice bonus features.
5. When you think comedy teams The Marx Brothers will be at the top of many film fans lists. One of the brothers best film Night at the Opera received a 2021 Blu-ray release filled with bonus features. I hope we see more.
4. Boris Karloff starred as Frankenstein's Monster in the original 1930's classic. He than made a career out of horror film in 2021 Karloff's Isle of the Dead was released on Blu-ray with a new restoration that was so impressive it was mind blowing.
3. Yet another James Cagney film on this list Angels with Dirty Faces defiantly one of is not the best of Cagney's tough guys role. The Blu-ray is loaded with great bonus features as well.
2. I love a good film noir and I never saw The Window until this Blu-ray release from Warner Archive. It was one of the best classic films I saw this year.
1. I love a good Cary Grant film and Mr. Grant makes yet another appearance in this list and at #1 no less. I have always loved Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House a film about a money pit of a home. Now what makes this one get the #1 slot is the loaded of bonus features.
What a great 2021 it was for physical media fans thanks to Warner Archive. There wasn't a bad release in this batch this year. I am looking forward to an even better batch of Blu-rays in 2022 from Warner Archive. They never seem to disappoint!
