ZaAt (1971) {Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed By Jason S. Lockard

In the 50-70's sci-fi b-movie were big business! Film goers loved seeing those mad scientist, crazy monsters and atomic creation. Well, in 1971 the tag line for a certain b-movie was "Is the monster man... fish... or devil?" With that you can pretty much tell your in for B movie cheese to say the least.

The film follows Nazi mad scientist Dr. Kurt Leopold who has suffered ridicule from his fellow colleagues' about his formula, which is described as "ZaAt" that can turn a man into a walking catfish.  He injects himself with the serum emerges from a tank as a giant fish-like creature and wishing revenge on the society that he feels has wronged him. So he releases several smaller walking catfish around the town's lakes and river. Will the monster be stopped or will his revenge spell the end of civilization as we know it?! You'll have to watch the film to find out!

I have to say that the restoration the Film Chest media group did is one of the best jobs they have ever done. The original print is dull and lifeless but was restored HD and restored print the color is brilliant and full of life. The bonus features include; the original trailer and TV spots, audio commentary, radio interview, a photo gallery and more.

Now let's be honest here ZaAt is not Citizen Kane, in fact ZaAt is not good film at all. ZaAt is more or less for people who love those cheesy B sci-fi films and if your a lover of those kind of film ZaAt is right up your ally.

So if you want to see this cheesy B classic ZaAt in the best quality possible this is the way to do it! But this title has gone out of print and is extremely expensive! You can see the price this Blu-ray is going for over at www.Amazon.com
