When George Romero filmed the Night of the Living Dead, a genre was born and people have been adding to the zombie film genre it seems like daily. Some good most not so good! Some filmmakers make the campy kind of horror that people just "eat up"! One such film is Dead don't die in Dallas.
Mill Creek Entertainment has been releasing a good chunk of horror film releases for our fall season 2019. And it's time for 'Dead don't die in Dallas to get its turn.
The film starts with a miracle pill that supposedly will cure all viral infectious diseases, but it goes totally wrong and turns most of humanity into Zombies. The few survivors in a small Texas town barricade themselves into an abandoned building. It soon becomes clear that the survivors can be split into two camps: Bible-thumpers and queer folk.
Now I have to say this film can be offensive in all kinds of ways here. The Bible people are obnoxious and the gay people are over the top. Than there is the gore is kind of insane and the kills are crazy.
I think the filmmaker was just trying to do a social satire, but it came off ultra offensive instead. At least in my opinion. So if you're not easily offended you may be ok with this film. But this is by no means for everyone.
As far as the film transfer goes the film looks and sounds great on this DVD. It is presented in widescreen 1.78:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Digital audio. As for bonus features on this release, it comes with the trailer.
While I can't say I enjoyed this film I know some people will. Mill Creek Entertainment did a good job transferring this film to DVD. But a DVD release can only be as good as the film.
