Who doesn't love to take a trip on the action express! Those films that drive us into a white knuckle frenzy! Car chases, shootout, action packed fun! Well, back in the 70s two of the stars that found themselves in many action films was Telly Savalas and Yul Brynner.
Alpha Video has released two films featuring these two amazing action stars with, the Super Action Double Feature. Lets take a look at the films included on this DVD and the quality of the prints of the films included in this collection.
Our Rating System:
****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An Ok way to spend an evening.
*=You haven’t missed anything.
Death Rage (1976) Vengeance for his son's death spurs a legendary hit man to accept the contract on a deported Mafia chieftain. **
Border Cop (1979) US Border Patrol agent Frank Cooper is keeping a fine balance between doing his duty and empathizing with illegal Mexican border jumpers in 1970s California. **
In this double feature collection not only do we see Telly and Yul but they are joined by other great actors, including; Martin Balsam (Psycho), Eddie Albert (Green Acres) and Michael C. Gazzo (Godfather II). These films are filled with pulse pounding action, but the stories are a little thin. There not the greatest films these actors ever starred in, but they are a good escape from the cares of everyday life. It is good to note there is a fair amount of adult content, so these are not for the kids.
The DVD menu is easy to navigate. You just highlight the movie title click and go. The film are presented in full screen format. The film prints are decent, there is some film grain and damage, but nothing that should take away from the enjoyment of these films. There are no bonus features, but two action films on one DVD is a great deal.
So if your a fan of 70s action films this maybe a DVD you want to add to your collection. Head over to Oldies.com and pick up a copy for yourself today.
