Raven (1996) {MVD Marquee Collection Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed by: Jason Lockard

At the time this review we are about 3 months removed from the passing of the legend Burt Reynolds. Movie goers were thrilled at his adventures in Smokey and the Bandit. He was amazing in Deliverance and The Longest Yard. He left us with an amazing array of films, from every genre that we will enjoy for years and years to come.

Well, the fine folks at MVD Visual decided to bring us an action packed Burt Reynolds HD Blu-ray release of the 1997 movie "Raven" through the MVD
Marquee Collection.

The film follows Martin Grant he has been hiding for years to escape his past as a ruthless mercenary in the elite force Raven Team. He's recently been engaged and are trying to forget the nightmares of murder and betrayal. Martin was convinced, that he could escape... But no one escapes from the Raven Teams ruthless leader Raven. At least not alive. Raven is back with a new team to hunt down and eliminate Grant.

The film has an all star cast including; Burt Reynolds, Matt Battaglia (Thor), Krista Allen (Anger Management) and Richard Gant (The Big Lebowski). The story is a bit predictable. The action is off the charts, but it take much more than action to make a great film. This is by no means Burt Reynolds best film, but that doesn't mean you couldn't get some enjoyment from watching the film.

It is good to note that this film has a lot of violence, profanity, sexual situations and nudity. So by all means be aware this is not for younger viewers, this is strictly for the adults.

As for this blu-ray release, the film is in widescreen format 1.85:1 presentation and 2.0 stereo. It looks and sounds really good. There is no film damage that I could see in the print. Also included in this release is English subtitles for the hearing impaired. Sadly the only bonus features in this release is trailers of other MVD Marquee releases.

So if your a hardcore fan of Burt Reynolds or a fan of 90s action films, this will be one you want to add to the collection. Head over to MVDShop.com and pick up a copy for yourself, and pay tribute to the legend of Burt Reynolds.
