Joan Crawford was an icon of cinema. She was ranked #10 on AFI's (American Film Institute) list of the greatest female stars of Classic Hollywood Cinema. She starred in what many consider one of the great dramatic films of all time Mildred Pierce. Though later in her career she would star in some b movie horror films.

The good folks at Mill Creek Entertainment have released a double feature of Joan Crawford horror film on blu-ray entitled the Psycho Biddy Double Feature. Released just in time for horror film fans to enjoy this Halloween. Let's take a look at the films included in this collection.

Our Rating System:
****=Don’t Miss it!
***=Worth a look.
**=An Ok way to spend an evening.
*=You haven’t missed anything.

Strait-Jacket (1964)

Lucy Harbin comes home to find her husband in bed with another woman. drove to insanity over this act, she grabs an ax and eliminates the both of them. She spends twenty years in an asylum. She is released and returns home to her estranged daughter. But her happy little reunion is soon turned into a nightmare when suspicions arise about her behavior. This is an typical fun William Castle production.  ***

Bezerk! (1969)

Monica Rivers is c
o-owner and ringmaster of a traveling circus. Her major focus is filling seats. Following a tragic death of Gaspar a tightrope walker, Rivers is pleased to see her profits increase. Almost immediately after she hires a handsome performer named Frank Hawkins to replace the fallen performer. Suddenly more performers meet their demise. This can not be a coincident, there must be a killer on the loose. But who is it? **

These two film not only boast of having Joan Crawford, but they have early appearances of future stars George Kennedy, Diane Baker, Lee Majors and Michael Gough. The stories are enthralling. They move along at a fast pace so you don't have time to get bored with them.

The films on this Blu-ray are presented in 1080p HD in widescreen format and uncompressed PCM 1.0 Mono. The transfers look crisp and clean and are pretty impressive to me. As a nice little bonus both films also include English subtitles for the hearing impaired.

One of Joan Crawford horror films on Blu-ray is awesome, but Mill Creek Entertainment always looks to do more. So with this release we get 2 films for the price of one at other places. This is a film fanatics dream come true.
