Crazy Six (1997) {Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed by Jason Lockard

In 1997 Albert Pyun took to the director's chair first to direct the "what if" scenario film "Blast". The same year he directed the crime action film Crazy Six. MVD Marquee collection has released Blast on Blu-ray and now it's Crazy Six's time to shine on Blu-ray.

The film take place in the fallen Eastern Bloc! A turf war is raging between crime families, they are warring for control of the underground. ''Crazy Six'' (Rob Lowe) and Dirty Mao (Mario Van Peebles) are the leaders of the two rival families. They agree to put their differences aside and align in order to overthrow Raul (Ice-T), the head of one of the largest crime cartels in Europe. Will this work? You'll have to watch the film to find out!

This film stars a cast of great actors and even has the great Burt Reynolds in it! They do a good job, with what they have, but the problem lies with the script by Galen Yuen. The idea is an awesome one, but it seems like it just doesn't really get off the ground. Plus there is one thing that really irritated me no ever explained how a Texas cowboy is in the Eastern Bloc. That would have been a cool backstory to include.

The film is presented in 1080p High Definition 2:40:1 aspect ratio and uncompressed 2.0 stereo. The colors in the nightclub pop off the screen in blues and pinks. It looks crisp, clear
and looks and sound great on the big screen TV. The bonus features include trailers of other MVD Marquee Collection.

The film is very adult there is a lot of mild sexual content, nothing to over the top. There is  some heavy profanity and violence. This film is by no means for the teens and kids. This one is strictly for adults.

As with all films every film has it's fans and no doubt there are people that love Crazy Six, even if I struggled a little with this one! So no doubt people are looking for this film and now for the first time ever you can own it on Blu-ray.

For fans of this film the Blu-ray would be a really nice upgrade from DVD. So if you love Crazy Six and want to see it in stunning picture quality by all means head over to MVDShop.com
