Gangster Empire: The Rise of the Mob (2013) {DVD / Blu-ray Review}

Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, Baby Face Nelson, Al Capone; these name bring to mind one word, Mob. Since film was invented filmmakers have been making films about The Mob. Mill Creek Entertainment’s new release Gangster Empire: The Rise of The Mob is no different.

Gangster Empire is a six part documentary mini-series and follows the mob lifestyle. It is almost 5 hours of entertainment  that takes the viewer on a trip through history. Showing how gangsters went from Robin Hood like heroes in the eyes of the public to reprehensible killers.

There was no doubt a real effort to be accurate and authentic in this DVD series. The producers used original images, footage and film clips to retell these historical accounts. Than there is the voice talent; narrator Coby Batty and other voice actors help to bring real life feel to these accounts.

This is a really good documentary series. It takes you behind the curtain of organized crime and lets you peek into the seedy underbelly of that lifestyle. The audio and video quality are stunning. I really enjoyed this docu-series.

Mill Creek has released this six part documentary series on both Blu-ray and DVD. The only downer I can find is there aren’t any extra features on the Blu-ray. But that is a minor problem. There is still so much entertainment here. There is nothing to complain about!

So if you are intrigued those larger than life characters in the mob as much as I am. Head over to www.MillCreekEnt.com or your local DVD provider and get your copy of the Blu-ray or DVD today.
