Threshold (2020) {Arrow Video Blu-ray Review}

Arrow Video is the boutique Blu-ray company know for giving the independent and foreign films the deluxe treatment that they normally would not get. The latest independent horror film to get this treatment is the 2020 film Threshold.

What makes Threshold worthy of getting the deluxe treatment is the film was shot on iPhones. That is unbelievable to even think about, but it is proof that nothing should stand in your way of doing something you love.

The films follows a teacher named Leo who's life has really been a mess. Suddenly he gets a phone call that puts him in contact with his estranged drug addict sister Virginia. When he arrives at her apartment he finds her in the midst of an overdose, yet she protests that she is cursed from a cult ritual that helped her get clean. Now she needs him to help her find a cure for this cure. Is this all paranoia or is there a sinister cult out there? You'll have to watch the film to find out!

The film is a typical horror film of the new generation! Dealing with occult elements and complete with lots of adult language and nudity at the end. This is not a slasher flick, it is a slow burn horror film, sort of on the lines of Blair Witch Project.

The cast is ultra small basically relying on the
Joey Millin and Madison West to carry the film, which all in all they do a decent job. But unless you are a fan of Blair Witch Project, you may find this film a bit to much of a sow burn and get bored with it.

Arrow Video transferred the film in High Definition in 1080p with a 5.1 DTS Master Audio.
It is totally amazing to think that this film was shot on iPhones as is looks better than would would ever imagine a film shot on a phone would. There is also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

So as you can see there is a lot of bonus features on this Blu-ray which Blu-ray collectors love. I have to say I really enjoyed the making of Threshold even more than I did the movie. It was cool to see how they used the iPhones. How the color filters were used to make the film look more shot of film. But as an independent film maker myself, that may be why I enjoyed that more than others may.

While Threshold will not be for everyone. Hardcore horror movie fans will get a lot of enjoyment out of this Blu-ray. So if Threshold sounds like something you would like to add to your collection, head over to Amazon.com and order your copy today.
