Dick Cavett Show Inside the Minds Volume 2

Reviewed by Jason Lockard

When you think of classic interviewers you probably think Johnny Carson or David Letterman, but what about Dick Cavett?! For almost 30 years Dick Cavett interviewed almost every person from every field, sport, Hollywood, politics and more.

S'More Entertainment decided to release collections of Dick Cavett interviews with some of the most amazing comedians.  Earlier this month they released 'Inside the minds volume 1' on DVD. You can read that review here!

Now it's time for Volume 2 of Inside the minds of comedians with Dick Cavett. Let's take a look at what is included in this collection!

George Carlin: Standup comedian, writer. He was known for his characters such as the Hippy Dippy Weather man. But most people known him as the star of the Bill and Ted Movies. Dick interviews George twice. The interviews aired June 5, 1990 and December 1,1992)=.

Martin Mull: Actor, Comedian and singer. Best known for his roles in Mary Hartman Mary Hartman, Roseanne and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.  The interview aired December 17, 1992.

Steve Martin: Actor, comedian, writer, producer, playwright, author and musician. Known for his time on Saturday Night Live and starring in countless funny movies. The interview aired on June 4, 1995.

All four of these full length episodes are unapologetic and delve deep into the minds of these comedians. In the George Carlin episodes the duo talk about his substance abuse and other topics. All of these episodes give us an amazing glimpse into what made these men think, laugh and what goes into making their comedy.

I personally believe Dick Cavett was a one of the best to ever to do it! All of the interviews are amazing, but for me George Carlin interviews were the standouts. It is good to note that these interviews there is some drug talk, adult themes and language. So these are not for the small kids.

The episodes included on this DVD look and sound pretty good in my opinion!
There is some very minor flaws in the picture, but nothing that should take away from the viewing. These episodes are a really good snapshot into the past. I really find it a joy to have this in my collection and to be able to relive these interviews time and time again.

So If you love unabashed interviews. If your a fans of George Carlin, Martin Mull and Steve Martin this DVD it a must own! I highly recommend this one! Head over to MVDshop.com and pick up your copy today.
