US Generation: 1982 The US Generation (2017)

Reviewed By: Jason S. Lockard

In the early 80s the Apple visionary Steve Wozniak had a dream and it wasn't about computers! No it was to put together a Woodstock concert event, but take it to a whole new level! This new release from MVD Visual is a new documentary study all about the US Generation festival.

The Us Generation documentary goes into great detail of this 1982 3 day music event that took place at Glen Helen Regional Park in San Bernardino, CA. As much as people talk about how amazing the Woodstock festival was, many admit to the miserable conditions. So Steve and everyone involved wanted to make this festival an enjoyable, fun and comfortable atmosphere! How did they do this? Even though the temperature was in the 100s. well, I let you want the documentary to find out.

The artists interviewed recall how amazing the event was getting to preform in front of the biggest crowd any of them would ever preform in front of. And getting an amazing huge payday. But there is tons of awesome stories behind the scenes about how this all came together. Steve felt that Woodstock was the "Me" generation and he wanted the festival to be more community-oriented and combine technology with rock music. Including for the first time ever big screens and a link up to a live feed to Russia where they were rocking out as well!

The documentary boasts highlights from the festival including performances by chart-topping superstars, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, alt-rock trio The Police, blues rock heroes Fleetwood Mac, guitar virtuoso Carlos Santana, retro-chic favorites The B-52s, and new wave icons The Cars; as well as archived appearances by Johnny & Joey Ramone, Carlos Santana, Sting, Ric Ocasek, Danny Elfman, and Fred Schneider.

The documentary runs at 1 hour and 43 minutes and movies along fast. There is some profanity in this film so parents need to be aware of that. But it is a very unique look back at 80s rock and at the biggest concert festivals. The music performances are worth checking it out.

So if your a fan of 80s rock music this documentary will be right up your alley. Pick up a copy of the Blu-ray of The Us Generation by visiting MVDShop.com.
