The Brady Bunch The Complete Original Series (DVD Review)

In 1969, the world of television changed forever with one simple theme. The story of a lovely lady and the story of a man named Brady. The Brady Bunch would be the first sitcom that would show television audiences that there was such a thing of a blended family.

In 2026, The Brady Bunch celebrates the 57th year since its debut. Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment has now released in a slim box the complete TV series on DVD.

Synopsis: When widower Mike Brady (Robert Reed) marries a lovely lady named Carol Ann (Florence Henderson), their two families become one. The six children include Carol's Daughters: Marcia (Maureen McCormick), Jan (Eve Plumb) and Cindy (Susan Olsen), as well as Mike's sons: Greg (Barry Williams), Peter (Christopher Knight), and Bobby (Mike Lookinland). Together with their dog Tiger and quirky housekeeper Alice (Ann B. Davis), this wild clan became the Brady Bunch!

Watching The Brady Bunch now in 2026, 57 years after it debuted, is like taking a trip in a time machine to a much simpler time. A time without computers, smartphones, tablets, or the internet. People actually talked to one another in person instead of over Zoom. The comedy is still funny all these years later. That just proves that true comedy never goes out of style, even if the clothes have.

In the seventies, The Brady Bunch was never a ratings juggernaut or a critical darling. But after its initial run, it continued in syndication and became super popular with children and teens.

The Brady Bunch was so popular in syndication that there were TV movies and sequel series, including The Brady Bunch Hour (1976–77), The Brady Girls Get Married (1981), The Brady Brides (1981), A Very Brady Christmas (1988), and The Bradys (1990). Even long after the series and sequels ended in the mid-1990s, Paramount Pictures brought the 70s Brady's back, but in a new world. Talk about a fish out of water. There were 3 of these movies.

There is something about The Brady Bunch that is just timeless. Perhaps it is the innocence of it all. That's why it is still popular even to this day. The entire TV series, all 5 seasons, 117 episodes, has been transferred to 20 DVDs 4 discs per season. Each episode is presented in its original full-screen format. The audio track is in English mono.

There is no listing of restorations that have been done, so I would believe this is just previous disc masters collected in a 20-disc set. Still, these episodes look and sound nice. Not as good as if they had been restored, but still good.

The biggest downside for this release for me is the lack of bonus features. On a previous DVD release, there were bonus features of the TV movies and bonus episodes of the sequel series. But on this release, there are just audio commentaries and a featurette, The Brady Bunch - Coming Together Under One Roof.

The lack of bonus features is a bummer, but still 5 seasons and 117 episodes in one DVD case. You really can't go wrong. There is a ton of entertainment in one set.

So take a trip back to a time when things were groovy, people loved their bell bottoms and lava lamps were hip. The Complete Original Series of The Brady Bunch on a 20-disc DVD set. Head over to Amazon and order your copy of this set today and enjoy a far-out time.
