In 2025, Paramount+ released a new mafia-inspired series entitled MobLand. The first season of star-studded, action-packed series has now come home to physical media instead of just staying on streaming. Now physical media fans can add The First Season of MobLand to their home video libraries.
Synopsis: Power is up for grabs as the Harrigans and the Stevensons, two warring London Crime families, clash in a kill-or-be-killed battle that threatens to topple empires and ruin lives. Caught in the crossfire is Harry Da Sauza (Tom Hardy), a street-smart fixer as dangerous as he is handsome, who knows all to well where loyalties lie when opposing forces collide. As kingdom goes up against kingdom, lines will be crossed - and the only saving grace is a bet-your-life guarantee: family above everything.
MobLand is a raw, rough look at Mob Life. It features a lot of action and violence, so this is for mature audiences only. There are great performances by Tom Hardy and screen legends Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. As with most streaming seasons, the seasons are shortened. Season one only has 10 episodes in it.
All ten Season One episodes have been transferred to 3 DVD discs. These episodes are presented in widescreen format. The audio track is an English 5.1 Dolby Digital track. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Not surprisingly, these episodes look really good on DVD. This series is shot in high quality and transferred that way. So there are no digital artifacts or audio anomalies. For me, there is nothing like watching a show on physical media rather than streaming it. The quality is just better.

The only downside for this release that I see is the lack of bonus features. Ten episodes spread across 3 DVD discs. We could have had some making-of featurettes, interviews, or something additional that would have taken this release to the next level. But still, having the complete first season of MobLand in your home video library is still a win for fans of mafia-inspired TV shows.
