Thirty Seconds over Tokyo (Blu-ray Review)

World War II had  some of the most harowing accounts in history. The braven men and women that fought for freedom. Hollywood would capture these stories on film to preserve them for posterity. One such event took place just after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

1944 saw the release of Thirty Seconds over Tokyo featuring an all-star cast of Spencer Tracy, Van Johnson, Robert Walker, Robert Mitchum, Phyllis Thaxter, Gordon MacDonald, and more. Now Warner Archive Collection has releasze this classic drama on Blu-ray.

Synopsis: In this true story of courage and ingenuity featuring an all-star cast, American pilots under Doolittle's (Spencer Tracy) command make the seemingly impossible one-way flight by launching fully loaded bombers for the first time ever from the deck of an aircraft carrier and landing in China. The cost in pilots and aircraft for the Americans may be staggering, but the raid forever shatters the Japanese people's belief that the vast Pacific Ocean protects them from American counterattack.

Thirty Seconds over Toyko is a absolute episc picture featuring wonderful preformances by Spencer Tracy, Van Johnson, Robert Mitchum and more. Plus the special effect really place you right in the front line of this story. It truly is one of the best war pictures I have ever seen.

Warner Archive Collecton has transferred Thirty Seconds over Tokyo to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.37:1 aspect ratio. Thr audio track is an English DTS-HD MA 2.0 MONO. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
