The Walk (2015) 4K Ultra HD Review | A Breathtaking Home Theater Experience

Movies based on a true account are some of my favorite forms of entertainment. I may not know much about the person or event that took place. I may not have lived through it. But through a film, I can witness the life of a person or the historical event.

In 2015, Robert Zemeckis brought the true-life account of a man with a dream to life on film. Now a decade later, this wonderful story comes home to 4K UltraHD!

Synopsis: Twelve people have walked on the moon, but only one man -- Philippe Petit (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) -- has ever walked in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. Guided by his real-life mentor, Papa Rudy (Ben Kingsley), and aided by an unlikely band of international recruits, Petit and his gang overcome long odds, betrayals, dissension and countless close calls to conceive and execute their mad plan. Academy Award winning director Robert Zemeckis uses advanced technology in the service of an emotional, character-driven story. THE WALK is a love letter to Paris and New York City in the 1970s, but most of all, to the Towers of the World Trade Center.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is so believable as Philippe Petit. I think credit for that must come from Philippe himself as he was personally trained Gordon-Levitt how to walk on wire via an eight-day workshop. Than there is the tremendous work of the great Ben Kingsley. Any film Kingsley is in is just better because of his inclusion.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has transferred The Walk to 4K in 2160p and presented in 2.39:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is an English, French and Spanish track is a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. There are subtitles in English, French and Spanish.

The picture quality is literally amazing. Viewing this film is a jaw-dropping experience. But beyond just a gorgeous-looking picture. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment added some great bonus features as well. Take a look at what was included on this disc.

Bonus Features:
* Deleted scenes
* First Steps - Learning to Walk the Wire
* Pillars of Support
* The Amazing Walk
* High Wire Act
* Theatrical Trailer

Now in addition to all these bonus features, included on this 4K release is a digital copy of this film. I love this bonus. To have a digital copy of the film that you can have with you anywhere you have an internet connection. Tremendous. I am still physical media first, but having a bonus digital is too cool.

If you are a fan of biographical films, I highly recommend this 4K UltraHD release of The Walk. To add Robert Zemeckis' The Walk to your home video library, head over to MovieZyng or Amazon and order your copy today!

Out of 4 film reels (4 being the best) the 4k UltraHD of The Walk receives.....
