Dave Wascavage, the name may not seem familiar, but this director is best known for a comedy horror cult classic. That cult classic is 2004's Suburban Sasquatch. But just a short two years before, he would direct his masterpiece. He directed a film that could be considered better than his cult classic, which is Fungicide.
Visual Vengeance has taken these low-budget campy horror films that normally would not see a physical media release in 2026 and given them a super deluxe Blu-ray release. Now we can celebrate the campy fun of Fungicide on Blu-ray.
Synopsis: Deep within a tranquil forest, five strangers meet at a secluded bed and breakfast. But one of these guests happens to be a mad scientist, who uses his vacation to accidentally create an army of killer mushrooms. Now unleashed on the other guests, and with the body count quickly piling up, it's up to the survivors to arm themselves and fight back against these slaughtering shrooms in hopes of stopping them from world domination!
Dave Wascavage brings absurdity to a whole new level with Fungicide. Long after the world was treated to Killer Tomatoes, now we get Killer Mushrooms. Now, in all honesty, this is not a good film it is a campy, crazy, and completely off-the-wall film that after you finish, you will never forget. This film has a little bit of everything, including mushroom samurai. Yes, read that right.
Visual vengeance has transferred Fungicide to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.33:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is an English stereo track and there is the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Now this isn't just any transfer, this is a new SD master from original tape elements that was approved by director Dave Wascavage. What results is a pretty impressive transfer. Granted, it is not crystal clean and 4K sharp. But for a low-budget film, it's nice. Plus, Visual Vengeance added some great bonus features to this disc. Take a look at what is included.
