Fallout Season 2: 4K UltraHD Review

Fallout, the video game franchise, debuted in 1997. It was so popular and spawned so many versions of the game that Amazon/MGM saw the opportunity for a popular series, so almost 3 decades after the first game appeared, a TV series debuted on Prime Video.

The series has completed two seasons. Now, as the cast and production crew prepare to produce season 3. Amazon MGM Studios have released season 2 on 4K UltraHD to go along with the season 1 release.

Synopsis: In a future, post-apocalyptic Los Angeles brought about by nuclear decimation, citizens must live in underground bunkers to protect themselves from radiation, mutants, and bandits.

Like with Season 1, Season 2 is very exciting with a good chunk of action and an intriguing storyline. Season 2 is definitely a stronger season than Season 1. However, like most streaming series, the seasons are shortened when compared to broadcast TV seasons.

These episodes have been transferred to 4K in 2160p HDR10 and presented in the original aspect ratio of 2.39:1. There are options for audio tracks in English Dolby Atmos, English: Dolby TrueHD 7.1, French Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 and German Dolby Digital 5.1. Finally, there are options for subtitles in English SDH, French, German, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish.

These episodes look super spectacular in 4K UltraHD. The picture is crisp and clean with no signs of digital artifacts or audio anomalies. The eight episodes are not crammed on 1 disc. They are spread across three 4K discs. That is impressive. Then, finally, MGM added some nice bonus features to this 4K release. Take a look at what is included.

So, while there are not a lot of episodes in this season, there is a lot of entertainment in this set. If you have never seen Fallout, I do suggest starting with season 1. But you can watch season 2 without watching the first season and get into the story.
