In the late 1980s to the early 1990s there were few as popular action star than that of Jean-Claude Van Damme. Films like Bloodsport (1988), Kickboxer (1989), Universal Soldier (1992), and Timecop (1993) made him a star. Audiences were thrilled with his martial arts films.
In 1998 the Golden Age of Hong Kong cinema director Tsui Hark recruited Jean-Claude Van Damme to star in his film Knock Off. MVD Rewind Collection loves there Van Damme movies as do most of us. MVD is releasing a deluxe edition 4K UltraHD and Blu-ray release of Knock Off.
Synopsis: Jean-Claude Van Damme (Double Impact) plays Marcus Ray, a Hong Kong fashion designer who uncovers a deadly conspiracy involving explosive micro-bombs hidden in counterfeit products. Teaming up with a covert agent (Rob Schneider, Grown-Ups), Ray must navigate the dangerous world of counterfeit fashion to stop the imminent threat and save lives.
Okay so Knock Off is not Van Damme's best movie. The plot is a bit muddy and the acting not as good as we might hope it would be. but one thing is for sure Van Damme is always Van Damme and always entertaining. The cheesiness of this film really brings the enjoyment level to new heights.
MVD have transferred Knock Off to 4K in 2160p and is presented in its original 2.35:1 Aspect Ratio in HDR. The Blu-ray presents the movie in 1080p in the original 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The Audio track is an English DTS 5.1 Surround and a LPCM 2.0 Stereo Audio. Finally there is the option for English Subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Now MVD didn't just grab a copy of this film and throw it on a disc. No way. This film is from a HD Restoration of the 16-Bit Scan of the Original Camera Negative. The picture looks absolutely stunning. But a stunning looking restoration is not all this release has going for it. MVD added some great bonuses to this 2disc set. Take a look at what is included.
