From Farm to City: Babe & Babe: Pig in the City Kino Lorber Studio Classics Blu-ray Review

Before talking animals became the norm for family entertainment, a lovable little pig named Babe arrived in 1995. And a generation of kids and adults fell in love with the little pink bundle of joy.

Now as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original film's theatrical release. Kino Lorber Studio Classics are releasing a 2-disc Blu-ray set of both the original Babe and the sequel Babe: Pig in the City.

Babe (1995)
Gentle farmer Arthur Hoggett wins a piglet Babe at a county fair. Narrowly escaping his fate as Christmas dinner, Babe bonds with motherly border collie Fly and discovers that he too can herd sheep. But will the other animals accept him? ***

Babe: Pig in the City (1998)
Babe, fresh from his victory in the sheepherding contest, returns to Farmer Hoggett's farm, but after Farmer Hoggett is injured and unable to work, Babe has to go to the big city to save the farm. ***

Kino Lorber have transferred Babe and Babe Pig in the City to Blu-ray 1080p and a presented in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio. There are two audio tracks an English 5.1 Surround and an English Lossless 2.0. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

These 2 family features feature an HD Master from a 4K Scan of the 35mm Original Camera Negative. These films look and sound spectacular. Watching these films again in after so many years brings so much nostalgia, but the crystal clarity is a pleasure for the eyes and ears.

Each of these films receive their own dedicated Blu-ray disc. And in addition to wonderful looking film transfers Kino Lorber added some really nice bonus features. Take a look at what has been included on these two Blu-ray discs.

These two films still entertain all these years later. And to see them restored in HD from a 4k scan and all the nice commentaries, interviews and featurettes. This is a tremendous Blu-ray set. Plus, for those that love them. This release comes with a slipcover.
