In 2011 Steven Spielberg became the executive producer of a post-apocalyptic Sci-fi TV series entitled Falling Skies. During its five-season run, the series was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards as well as other awards.
Warner Brothers Home Entertainment have released the complete series of Falling Skies on Blu-ray. Now physical media fans can re-watch this series whenever they want without fear of the loss of streaming rights.
Synopsis: The series opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. At the center of the series is Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), a Boston history professor whose family was torn apart. Tom must put his extensive knowledge of military history to the test as one of the leaders of the Boston-born resistance movement known as the 2nd Mass.
Falling Skies ran for 5 seasons but these seasons are extremely short. A total of 52 episodes. But this short series is so well produced. The quality of the storytelling and the acting is out of this world, led by Noah Wyle. If there is one thing I have against this series, it would be that it is so short. I wish there were more episodes.
Warner Brothers have transferred this series to Blu-ray in 1080p and are presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is an English Dolby TrueHD 5.1. There is the option for subtitles in English SDH, French, and Spanish.
These transfers are spectacular. The picture quality is crisp and clean with no digital artifacts or audio anomalies. But for me what makes physical media so great is the bonus features. And Warner Brothers did not disappoint with this release. They added so much great bonus features. Take a look at what is included.
